To have my Mercury-Gemini-Apollo-Shuttle launch cover collection consistent and uniform, I need the following unaddressed launch covers:Swanson/SpaceCraft launch covers: - MA-7/Carpenter
- MA-8/Schirra
- MA-9/Cooper
Ronson "Orbit" launch covers: Hand stamp cancels preferred. After acquiring the four Gemini-Titan "Orbit" launch covers I need, I will have available GT-9, 10, 11 and 12 official NASA/KSC launch covers to trade or sell. Thanks. |

Bob, I have duplicates of the Gemini 10, 11, and 12 Orbits, unaddressed and not plugged 9's. Will send them to you gratis. |

Thanks, guys, you are too kind. Now with the GT-9,-10,-11 and -12 "Orbit" covers replacing my official NASA/KSC covers for those four flights, the four ONC's will be expendable and available (of course, Dennis and Tim, if you need any of them, they are yours free). Otherwise, they are available for sale or trade. They are unaddressed and in excellent condition, with the GT-9 having a Stafford autopen. |

Can I ask a few possibly naive questions here please? In your original posting Bob, you described them as Ronson "Orbit" covers. Are these 'just' Orbit covers, or are they special in some way? Is Ronson for Orbit similar to Swanson for SpaceCraft? And who is Ronson? |

Yes, Bill Ronson was owner and producer of the Orbit brand covers. He was also responsible for the creation and use of the "plugged 9" postmarks on the Orbit covers. |

Thank you very much! I had forgotten about the Space Cover Store and will buy the MA-8 cover you pointed out, along with an MA-7 and MA-9 that are also available. So now with everyone's kind help, I will be able to acquire the seven covers I have asked about to make my Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Shuttle launch cover set uniform and consistent: SpaceCraft covers for Mercury; "Orbit" covers for Gemini; and crew patch printed cachet covers for Apollo, Skylab and Shuttle for a total 166. My fairly quick visit — I'll take more time next — showed that the Space Cover Store has a huge assortment and variety of early space covers, along with Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle covers. It illustrates the vast overabundance of space covers created and produced for those space programs. Also available are many astronaut autographed covers, including a nice STS-4 crew signed cover (Mattingly/Hartsfield) and an STS-8. |

Been on a resort vacation this week, Bob, and missed your latest cS-posting topic. On vacation I promised my wife no space work! Did you get all of the needed Mercury SCC's and Orbit covers that were listed? If not, let me know what still may be needed as I should have all of them available as extras (unsigned). Is there anything else needed? |

Wow, Ken, thanks! And I'll contact you about the SpaceCraft and Orbit covers I need. And for anyone considering assembling a set of launch covers for the 166 M-G-A-STS flights, Ken certainly could offer a lot of help. And to reply to Joel, no new space cover completion plans, but I do have a "dream" competition set, but it will remain just a dream. As a companion to a launch cover set would be a complete set of splashdown-recovery/landing covers for the 166 NASA flights, from Mercury-Redstone 3 to STS-135. But immediately two recovery covers would stop almost any such ambitious quest: very rare covers from the MR-3/Lake Champlain PRS and also the MR-4/Randolph PRS. Both price and availability would likely end any such quest. But the rest of the way would not be overly difficult (maybe GT-8), but a complete collection of 135 Space Shuttle landing covers is very doable. Good luck! |
