I am selling a full set from the first and only official USPS rocket mail. This cover postmarked June 8 1959 from the submarine USS Barbero. It is in great condition and has the June 8th Jacksonville Florida postmark on the reverse side. ![](http://www.collectspace.com/review/chuckster01/first_official_rocket_mail01.jpg) This has the original postmaster letter inside and comes with the "Point of Landing" cover with the Mayport Florida June 8 1959 postmark and is in very good condition with light wear and soiling. There is also an informative folded information publication that is original to this flight so a hard to find complete collection. ![](http://www.collectspace.com/review/chuckster01/first_official_rocket_mail02.jpg) ![](http://www.collectspace.com/review/chuckster01/first_official_rocket_mail03.jpg)

This was purchased at Superior Auctions in 1996. I am asking $1,250 shipping included. |

BeenInSpace had one of these up for auction in February (ended on Valentine's day). I was the underbidder and it went for $511. I was also bidding on a few other items from other sellers at the same time so I had kind of taken my eye off the ball. However, there is a world of difference between an actual achieved sale of $511 and an asking price of $1250, especially when the cheaper was addressed to somebody more relevant, and the seller has a vast reputation. So, bearing in mind my disappointment at not winning BeenInSpace's, and being generous of spirit, I'll buy it for $875 (plus I'll cover shipping costs USPS Flat Rate Priority Tracked + also, as I already have the Mayport month-on commemorative cover, you can keep that to resell onwards). |

So I took the day to have a coherent reply to your message. So here it goes.Yes there are auctions that items do sell very low in cost and I see these covers have sold anywhere from $400 - $1400 at past auctions so yes $1,250.00 is on the high end but I can always lower my price I can never go up. It is my goal to get as much for my collectables as I can and I believe this is the goal of most collectors. I have no idea who the cover you refer to was addressed to and I do not know the history of the person this one is addressed to or the difference this would make to the covers value unless it someone very well known. I can tell you I may not have a "VAST" reputation but I am well known. I own two businesses in Central Florida, I serve as Chief Operating Officer of the American Space Museum, I serve on the board of Directors and after conducting 27 Charity Fundraising auctions all listed on collectSPACE (Thank you Robert) I have a very good reputation and that has no bearing on the value of a collectable items. I am happy to accept your offer but in the future you should be less combative or at least do so in a private message and not a public forum. |

I am sorry if I upset you, I had no intention of being combative. I was, I thought, merely expressing my reasoning for the price I offered.I shall send you a private message. |
