I picked up this Apollo 13 flown flag and patch at a garage sale (yes, of all places) and it had heavy water damage.

The matte had some pretty bad dark marks on it so I removed the flag and patch from it and mounted it on my matte. I cut off the damaged/darkened part of the original matte and kept where it says that they were both flown. You can line up the flag and patch perfectly if you so choose.

The matte has a heavily faded Jim Lovell signature. The flag itself was signed by Lovell at an Astronaut Scholarship Foundation signing back in May 2011; The COA has a pic of him signing and holding the flag.

$8k or best offer shipped to anywhere in the USA. International would be extra. You will get the presentation I made, the original matte, and the COA (and two Lovell signatures - one from the 1970s, and one from the 2010s). Will send pics of it all upon request.

Just something for future reference, water damage can be treated by a professional conservator for a few hundred dollars, regardless of how damaged it is. It is a shame the original mat was cut up, as it sounds like restoration would have been quite simple.

At the time (about 20 years ago because I was still in college) mobile phones with a ton of storage space didn't exist so I didn't take a "before" pic. Honestly, knowing what I know about restoring paper items (my graded comic book arsenal is massive), there was no way to restore a crusted, dried up matte that has black and brown muck working it's way to the flag and patch. They would have removed the two anyways.

Down to $6k or best offer. Would much rather deal with someone here than elsewhere on the internets. Let me know!

I see this flag has popped up on eBay along with some 48K+ other listings.

Lots of red flags on this and other seller items, space related or otherwise. Weird BIN option link that isn't eBay, varying seller location, etc. I've messaged eBay to investigate.

One red flag, of course, being that the listing uses the exact photos from collectSPACE, above. Another of the listings, an Apollo 10 crew signed photo, uses the same photos from RR Auction. Definitely a scam. Unfortunately, people will be tempted by the $1 opening bids.

To their credit, eBay wasted no time in taking down all the listings and expunging the fraudulent seller.

These fraudulent activities happen periodically and across eBay categories. One seller claimed that his/her account was hacked and misused for these fake copy/paste listings.

I actually just ran into that eBay listing on a Facebook post. They did seem to take down the listing because I couldn't find it. Flag and patch sold (on eBay) back in August 2023 to a well known member of the space community.

So yeah, my pics but for sure not my account.

All times are CT (US)
