This listing is for an Apollo Snoopy Cap made by Ryan Nagata as the prototype used to demonstrate his craftsmanship, knowledge and astute attention to original detail in his presentation to be the costume designer for the movie "First Man." As we all know this came to fruition and Ryan was responsible for several spacesuits and accessories used in the production. What sets this Snoopy Cap above all those made for the movie is the material used in it’s construction. Ryan obtained a small amount of the original Teflon material (Brownish colored fabric) that allowed him to make only two caps with this material. Outside of winning the lottery to afford an original, this Snoopy Cap is the closest you will ever come to displaying an authentic Snoopy Cap in your collection. Prop maker Ryan Nagata is obsessed with NASA spacesuits, and has made the best replicas Adam Savage has seen and created the Snoopy Cap for Adam Savage's Apollo spacesuit. Here is great video of Ryan and Adam Savage discussing his work on the Apollo spacesuits and accessories for the movie "First Man," including the Snoopy Cap. Comments posted by Ryan Nagata on the Snoopy Cap: I finished a new communications carrier. I made castings of real Apollo-era Snoopy cap ear kidneys in flexible urethane foam, so they're spot-on. I also used the 100% correct vintage PTFE fabric for the brown parts. This fabric is no-longer made like this, so this is the most accurate snoopy cap I could ever make. @Seatra also provided me with a very small amount of the actual teflon fabric that the real caps were made of. As you can see, it's a very unique looking fabric. I custom-printed the crosshatch pattern on my first replicas and it looks pretty good, but nothing beats the real thing. Unfortunately, this fabric is no longer made, so these are the only two caps I can make like this. Selling for $3000/OBO with priority postage within Continental USA. Please send an email for pictures. |
