Damn, missed it. You gotta be quick. I'll be pissed off if it reappears in a weeks time at double the price.

I can’t even bid on this one. International shipping will not be considered, oh well. That’s one less bidder in me. Still looking.

There's a "Goodyear First Tire on the Moon 1971" acrylic display in the upcoming July 24th American Space Museum auction in Titusville, FL. The LRV-miniature tire lucite lot, #392, already has three bids on it.

Just a note of clarification. This paperweight has nothing to do with the LRV. The first tire on the moon that this commemorates was in fact an actual pair of Goodyear rubber tires on the Apollo 14 MET - modular equipment transporter or “rickshaw”.

Obviously the LRVs used on Apollo 15 through Apollo 17 did not use rubber tires but had wire mesh wheels.

Of course, you are correct, the LRV had nothing to do with the "first tire on the moon" slogan that the acrylic referred to. That was a bad oversight on my part and
thanks for the correction. The "first tires on the moon" were indeed from Apollo 14 in Feb. 1971.

Missed out again. Story of my life. The seller not responding to my request for international shipping, is it such a haste? I had it in my shopping cart also.

Still looking.

Did you have any luck getting that piece shipped? I saw that the listing ended.

No luck getting it shipped. I put it in my eBay basket and contacted the seller begging him to consider shipping it to me. Then about an hour and a half later I when I checked on it it was gone. No reply from the seller at all.

It was going at a fair price too. That's three I've missed out on due to shipping issues. I'm giving up.

Update: I now have on its way from a private sale with a collectSPACE member. I got it at a fair price and it's in near mint condition. A very pleasant exchange indeed.

My week's getting better. Thank you collectSPACE and its members.
