THE GLOBES HAVE BEEN SOLD -- THANKS!For sale is a set of two photo-globes of the Moon and Mars. The Moon globe is manufactured by Replogle and is 4.8 inches in diameter and has notations showing the Apollo 11, Ranger 4 and USSR Lunik 2 landing areas and dates. It also shows the eastern and western limits of the lunar surface visible from Earth. The transparent base has a curve-fitted magnifier for viewing surface details and overlay scales for surface distance and area.
The 12-inch diameter Mars globe appears to be made from Viking orbiter photos and shows very clear surface details in color (shades of sand and rust, with white polar caps). There is no manufacturer mark on this globe, but judging from the detail and plastic stand design, this was the original Mars globe sold by National Geographic and science shops around the country during the late 1970s and 1980s. Given the similarity in quality, equatorial bands and polar buttons, this may also be a Replogle globe, but I can’t verify that on the interweb.
Both globes and stands are in excellent, like-new condition: no dents, peeling, scuffs, chips or fading.
The price for the set of both globes is $70.00. U.S. postage is $39.00 (these require a 12.5 x 12.5 x 16-inch box for well-padded shipment). Overseas shipment is $61.75 ($73.50 for Australia). PayPal required. Please note that some overseas postal deliveries are running very slow due to the Covid-19 situation, but items are getting through eventually. The globes and stands will be cleaned prior to packing. Thanks & fly safe!
