One of a kind STS-135 Closeout and Launch S0007 Document and logbook from OVCC #1 (Orbital Vehicle Closeout Crew, Crew Chief). This book was used in the white room of LC-39A and has about 2,000 pages of detailed procedures specific to the STS-135 launch.

There is only one S0007 book for each flight and according to Travis the rest where thrown in the trash after the mission so this is the only surviving one.

Travis Thompson was promoted to Guenter Wendt's job as closeout crew lead/pad leader or OVCC #1 in 1989. This logbook has been signed and certified by Travis and is the only surviving launch document from his 100+ launches.

He is asking $3,500. (SOLD)

I just received this amazing book from Travis and I will post picture as soon as I can. This covers so much more then just crew ingress. I was surprised at the content including detailed photographs of the OVCC tool kits used on every launch.

Before it is sold, would it be possible to have the full book scanned and published online as a reference, perhaps as a service of the American Space Museum?

He also gave me several other item to sell including his LC-39A/LC-39B elevator key that took him to the 195 foot level for more then 100 shuttle launches, his service bag that he took all of the crazy items for launch like Kapton tape, extra light bulbs, cable ties, and miscellaneous items he liked to have on hand for every launch.

He still has the roll of Kapton tape he used to seal the main hatch for the last shuttle missions with several feet still on the roll.

And he has three of the mission plaques that you can see on the end of the slide board that Travis is sitting on from STS-95, STS-114, STS-122. All missions of personal meaning to Travis.

I am very proud to say Travis gifted to me his STS-135 plaque along with a photograph of the 135 crew with the plaque for my support and help. I am honored.

This is so awesome to see the history in these items.

Robert, I have no issues with scanning the book as long as the person who purchases it is agreeable. The main issue is with the museum closed there is no one there to help with the scanning and this is a sizable document.

Another new item:

STS-135 Astronaut Emergency Light Stick
In May 30th ASM Auction

*Closeout crew patch is not included*

Intended as a replacement item in the white room of launchpad 39A during astronaut ingress of STS-135. This light stick was a flight spare in case one of the astronauts damaged the one in their Advanced Crew Escape Suit (ACES) during ingress.

These light sticks are tucked into the shoulder pockets of both upper arms. The light sticks are intended as a visual aid in case of emergency and are colored orange to identify the astronaut crew. While the close out crew technicians used green light sticks in case of an emergency.

Update:

Travis Thompson's STS-135 launch/White Room used S0007 Manual final price reduction to SOLD. This is as low as it goes for this one of a kind document.

Hurry before it heads to auctions and adds 20% buyers premium to the price.

For cS members ONLY, an extra added to the STS-135 Astronaut Emergency Light Stick offered above I will add —

A green closeout crew emergency light stick also sealed in its original package, also left over from the STS-135 launch.

A two for one price deal.

I have Travis Thompson's complete clean room suit. This was worn anytime he was working inside the orbiter with the exception of CDDT and launch day.

He says he wore this on dozens of missions as the close out crew also stocked equipment in the orbiter before launch.

The suit is in a bag with his booties, and head covering. These where not neatly folded they where stuffed in a bag and have been sitting for almost 10 years.

If anyone has an interest I am open to offers.

I will be offering what I believe will be the last item from Travis Thompson's collection. It will be his OVCC bag that he carried all of the essential items needed for every launch.

The bag will be sold complete with its contents minus the items removed for previous sale (Kapton tape, shuttle main hatch plug and the astronaut light sticks). Everything else in the bag will be sold with the bag.

This is the bag that his LC-39 elevator key was attached. That key was removed and already sold.

Pictures and details will be coming this weekend.

All times are CT (US)
