I bought and paid for this exact same set of items on eBay last Tuesday (282784210245).When I saw this had only been posted on cS yesterday (Thursday), I messaged the seller on eBay, expressing my concern and have since received a full refund on PayPal with the reason being that it is "out of stock, or the item is damaged." Well clearly it wasn't "out of stock" when I bought it, and there is no mention of any damage in the posts above. As you can probably guess I am not happy with this outcome and feel that at least I deserve an honest reason as to why my purchase has fallen through. |

We explained to you that we were advised on this site that it was not proper to sell one of the extras we offered. Therefore it was indeed out of stock and removed from the listing. Additionally, international shipping insurance was limited to $1000 thus we could not take the responsibility. We understand your concern but it just was not possible. |

Apparently it's back, without Neil's hairs. eBay item 282815367642.

When this was first listed on collectSPACE, I removed the post as it included an offer for a sample of Neil Armstrong's hair. Out of respect for his stated desires, we do not allow the sale of Armstrong hair on collectSPACE. Further, I recommended to Danielle (Dannyp2) that the sample be destroyed and discarded. Now that seems to be what resulted in the eBay sale being canceled, at least partially. Danielle, I think you should respect the eBay sale and close the deal with MendipmaNic for the amount agreed upon. |

Right said Robert. A sale is a sale and it should always be respected! |

And for the record you can insure international items through eBay for any amount as I just sent a $2,300 item to Scotland insured through eBay. I assume it is insured as they sold me the insurance. |

I think the confusion may be between ShipCover and USPS insurance. As noted by eBay regarding ShipCover: You can purchase protection for the selling price of the item or items, up to $1,000 per package. But for USPS insurance, eBay states: Provides up to $5,000.00 indemnity coverage. Is available for domestic (within the US) and international shipments. |

Danielle, it is unethical of you to not complete the original sale. While Robert has reservations about selling the hair sample, it is not illegal to have it. If you wished to follow his advice and destroy it (preferable), you could have responded to the buyer and given him the option to not have it and pointed him to this site. To say that it is not available and then put the same items up less the hair for $500 more is just wrong. And the excuse that it could not be insured is also wrong. Again that could have been between you and the buyer. You offered the item for sale and could have charged for the additional insurance. |

Yeah, very shady to cancel an eBay sale then resist the item at a higher price on cS.If I were the buyer, at this point I'd probably refuse to purchase the items as a matter of principle — even if the seller decided to honor the original sale. |

Danielle, you say that it was explained to me the reason for pulling out of the sale, but I have double checked my eBay messages and can find no trace of receiving such an explanation. The last message received from you on 17th January stated: "We will need a few days to gather all materials from the archive safe, and package carefully. A Tracking Number will follow as soon as we have it." With regard to the sample of Neil's hair, I assume his displeasure was over people profiteering from his fame. My view when purchasing this set of items on eBay was that the three signed and authenticated NASA lithos constituted the sale items and good value at the price I paid. The hair sample and plaques were in effect included as a gifted incentive. And what an incentive — to have in your collection, DNA from the first man to set foot on the moon! So what was it that made you decide to post the item for sale on collectSPACE the following day without first giving me the option to lose the hair and address the insurance dilemma? |

After chatting with Danny, this is no longer any issue. You will not be changing Danny's mind. |

Danielle told me the same, and that is her choice. I believe she also understands that she will no longer be offering items for sale on collectSPACE. |
