I am cleaning out many items and have listed on eBay an assortment of flown items, autographs, photos, documents and more. Many of the items start at $1 and there are no reserves. You can view my items for sale here.

Some highlights include:

  • Flown MA-9 cord segment
  • Flown STS 1-4 bay liner
  • Flown shuttle checklist page
  • Rare documents from Sovient Krechet lunar suit development
  • ASTP photos
  • All sorts of autographs, all starting at $1
Thanks for looking!

I am not sure if I am misreading your eBay listing, the one for Karol Bobko's STS-51D page.

The page shown looks almost translucent and very large compared to the COA sheet showing the cover but I do not see a size listed.

I have several flown checklist pages and all are on a fairly thick cardboard type paper that I can not see through. Also all of my checklist pages are about 6x8" roughly.

I may be overthinking this, but can you confirm the size and authenticity of the page in you're listing?

The page looks to be 8.5x11", which is the same size as the original checklist, which you can see here.

Also, the text in the footer looks correct for a page from the DPS checklist. Can't speak to page thickness, but in other 8.5x11" shuttle checklists, the pages are standard paper (not the thicker stock typical of Apollo).

I'm not the seller, by the way, but I was curious about the item, and had the same initial misgivings that you expressed in your post...

I cannot speak for later missions, but I have pages from STS-3 and STS-5. Both of these pages are the smaller (Apollo) size and on the same cardboard.

All of the shuttle flown checklist I have seen in person have been the smaller size with ground support versions in the 8.5 x 11 size.

Chuck, thanks for the questions! Yes, the page is 8.5 x 11, and it's printed on more common weight paper, not card stock. Actually it's a bit narrower, as its from a subsection of the checklist, where the pages are cut narrower to allow for internal tabbing.

neo1022 is on the money: the page is directly from that flown checklist that was sold by Lunar Legacies. The scan of the complete checklist, which is included with this page, shows the booklet in full.

As far as the size and type of paper: I can't speak to when or why larger sized checklists were produced but I have seen, and I own, several flown checklists and pages that are printed in the larger size and on regular paper. I quickly found a number of photos showing large sized checklists being used on orbit such as: 1 | 2

The Lunar Legacies auction neo referenced had several other large sized checklists such as the Crew Activity Plan and the Post Insertion checklist.

I certainly understand your concern but I can tell you that the page I'm selling is straight from the flown checklist that Don sold via his LL auction. I have no doubt about its authenticity and I would be happy to answer any other questions you might have about it. Thanks!

Chuck, the shuttle flew with large 8.5" x 11" checklists too. I have several including ones from STS-5 (EVA checklist) and STS-6 (Orbit Ops) that I got from the astronauts.

They did fly large format checklists in the FDF during the shuttle era.

All times are CT (US)
