I am selling my sets of Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) Space Artifact Series (2009 and 2010) in order to finance a trip to Florida (and KSC) in February with my family. Each series is made of three uniquely cast, flown space artifacts, elegantly encased in Lucite with the mission insignia. From the original ASF description of the acrylics: The bottom of the piece boasts a description of the artifact, its individual number and a digital astronaut signature. Straight from the astronaut's personal collection to you, each piece is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity complete with the astronaut's original signature. 2009 SAS features: - Apollo 9 Lunar Module, Spider, insulation segment from astronaut Rusty Schweickart
- Apollo 13 Command Module, Odyssey, couch material from astronaut Fred Haise
- STS-27/STS-28, Space Shuttle tire segment from astronaut Robert “Hoot” Gibson
2010 SAS features: - Apollo 14 Beta cloth segment flown to the moon with astronaut Edgar Mitchell
- Apollo 16 Pyro System Schematic section flown to the moon surface with astronaut Charlie Duke
- Space Shuttle Discovery Thermal Protection tile segment from astronaut Don Williams
Each of these is numbered (series limited to 200 pieces). These are very well-made, beautiful lucites.
All items are in absolute mint condition, will come in their original boxes with the original certificates of authenticity (bearing original astronaut signatures). The Apollo 14 COA is laminated and a little creased (from the original shipping to me). Shipping costs from Finland will be added. This is a good opportunity especially if you are in Europe, and this way avoiding additional import duties. Price for these is $700 or Euro 650 per each series of three lucites. If you get both series together then the price is reduced to $1300 or Euro 1200,- Although I have not posted much recently I am a long-time cS member and have met in person many of the regulars. I also have a 100% positive eBay profile under the nickname fxj. Thank you for your attention, and let me know if you have any question. — Frederic |

Frederic is offering a good deal on the 2009 series. At the recent Heritage Auction, the Apollo 13, Apollo 9, and STS-27 lucites sold for $1062, $375, and $200, respectively. |

Thank you Mark. I also see a 2010 set sold for 750 dollars on eBay at the end of August. |

No interest for these? I still think it is an attractive offer; a reputed space collectibles dealer has an Apollo 13 lucite alone listed at 500 dollars.I will list them on eBay over the weekend if I don't hear from anyone here on cS. |

Great items but these are still available from the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation. They are selling them for $559.30 per set with free shipping in the USA at the moment. Just type in the code HOLIDAY2015 to get the discounted price. |

Wow.Let it be clear though that my listing was posted a week before their sale, at prices clearly lower than theirs, before anyone thinks otherwise. I can't align with these prices, which are lower than the original issue prices if I remember correctly. I had agreed the sale of the 2009 set with a cS member but I suppose he should go through the ASF (it looks like the customs duties and VAT as he is in Europe will make their set at about the same price as mine). Will have to think of other ways to raise money for the upcoming trip. |

Within the past year the ASF also offered these sets as a buy one, get one free. I would assume many cS members get the ASF emails and for those that were looking to buy these lucites, took advantange of the great pricing at that time. The ASF sale having been so recent could also be complicating a sale of your lucites. |

Yeah - I didn't want to be a "spoiler" to ya, hence I kept quiet too regarding the ASF's sale pricing (where I got a screaming deal a few years back for my lucites).Timing is everything... But not everyone is in the know. Best of luck... |

Relatively few people know about collectSPACE and the awesome forums it provides.eBay may still provide a great venue to sell you lucites as the Apollo 13 and Apollo 16 seem to sell in the $500 neighborhood each leaving lots of room for discounts on the others. Good luck. (I just ordered my last missing set from ASF. I love good deals.) |
