Hubble Space Telescope 25th Anniversary Patch: Gift An AstronautThis announcement is unlike any we've done before. Thanks to an agreement with the Association of Space Explorers, we will have the opportunity to gift an astronaut with this patch.  Here's how it will work:
You will purchase a large 12 inch high by 12 inch wide Hubble Space Telescope 25th Anniversary commemorative patch that lists the names of every astronaut who flew a Hubble mission. In return I will send you a card so you can write a message to the astronaut you chose. You will write the name of your astronaut on the front of the card and return that card to me.
When the patches arrive, they will be individually packaged and sent together to the offices of the Association of Space Explorers. The ASE will mail them to each astronaut.
Of course you can purchase a patch for yourself as well. 
The astronauts will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis. There are 32 astronauts listed on the patch. I am also building a list of HST project scientists and managers because the minimum patch order is 50 pieces.
So here's your chance to personally thank the "Hubble Huggers" that deployed then saved the greatest observatory ever launched.
The deadline for ordering is August 31, 2015 [order form]. This is the only notice I will be posting about this patch. So please don't delay. If this project works well, we will do this with other commemoratives.

I am extending the deadline by one week, to allow everyone a chance to get in on this patch offer. The number ordered will be small and due to the response, will not likely be repeated.
Let me explain why I'm extending the deadline. I've received numerous emails this year asking if an older patch was available. I had to respond that it wasn't. When I offer a patch, I order the number of patches based on the pre-orders received. Obviously, some are more popular than others, that's OK. These patches are the result of my desire to commemorate an event but also made based on your feedback. So when the deadline is passed, there won't be re-issues unless demand makes it feasible.
With this large HST25 patch, I thought I would try something new. I would offer you the chance to show your appreciation to a favorite astronaut for their service. I had to hold the price to $25 because some of these folks are still government employees and thus not allowed to accept a gift greater in value than $25.00.
The response has been less than I expected but that's okay too. Of the 32 astronauts who flew Hubble missions, the following are still available for you to gift:
[i] Brown, Carey, Clervoy, Currie, Lee, Linnehan, Shriver, EDITED to reflect current status as of December 16th.
This Saturday, September 5th will be the last day to submit your paid order for an astronaut or yourself. You DO NOT have to purchase a patch for an astronaut to be able to purchase a patch for yourself. I apologize if I gave that impression. But if you want this patch, it's now or never.

Last call for this patch. When gone it goes back in the vault until 2020.I have 25 remaining. $25.00 each if you pay by check.
$27.00 if you choose Paypal. They are each in a Priority Mail flat rate envelope. I will ship them free of charge to a domestic US address. International orders still must pay shipping (sorry). |
