From the estate of a NASA Public Affairs Officer (PAO).

Believed Apollo-era vehicle plaques, dash or door mount, used to designate public affairs business. Unknown applications but PAO was part of A11 Goodwill World Tour and post-flight A12 US tour among other events.

Two available, both fine condition and sharp-looking. Red paint or anodizing over aluminum plate stock exposed for lettering. 5" x 8".

Asking $250 each, $425 for both.

Thanks for looking.

David, here is the problem with the plaques as I already have one from the same person you obtained these two from. The same point that I made to the previous owner was that there is nothing "NASA" attached to them other than a back story (which we both know and you mention in your listing).

If these had lets say the NASA "vector/meatball" emblem on them, then there would be some weight. Other than that, these are just a couple of plastic signs that anyone could have made up at your local trophy shop. There is no associated photos of them being used or anything saying NASA on them.

Gary; I'll clarify to add that these are not being resold here after purchase from the same source. I'm simply helping that same individual (a NASA-family friend of the PAO) directly sell material for the benefit of the estate.

I'd forgotten you have one of these plaques so you will note of course that they are not just a couple of "plastic signs" but instead rather nicely-made aluminum items. The pictures don't convey very well what, to me, is the 'aircraft-grade' nature of the signage.

All that said, I understand there is nothing but a story to anyone looking. But, since I've seen the entirety of the material from the estate and now know the individual's history and family, there is no doubt about the NASA origin and use. I imagine you'd say the same given the full scope of your other purchases.

Nonetheless, and to your point, others don't have the full backdrop so I'd still love to find that picture you mention!

Interestingly the PAO actually appeared a couple days ago in an LA Times story covering Joan Aldrin's passing. He's the gentlemen to her right escorting the family from church on landing day.

Anyway, not a problem. I'll purchase them from the estate myself unless some takers come along in the next day or two. No more price bumps. Quite frankly I think you got yours for a song and I don't mind hanging on to these for another time.

All times are CT (US)
