I would like to sell my Spaceflori Apollo 16 Moondust Stained Presentation, which includes a cut segment of Velcro removed from the back of a cue card that was used while navigating the lunar module Orion to a rendezvous with the command module Casper. The card, which shows the inertial line of sight rates as a function of time, came from the collection of Apollo 16 lunar module pilot Charles Duke.

This display is "standard" size (8 by 10 inch) and is unmounted and has not been displayed. The Apollo 16 dust is not obvious to the naked eye. As such, included with display is a photograph of the Velcro sample taken through a microscope. Also included is all documentation provided with presentation such as Certificate of Authenticity from Charlie Duke, Certificate of Authenticity from Florian Noller of Spaceflori, and Apollo 16 mission facts and information. Images of each item are available here.

This item has long been sold out – as are all other Spaceflori moon dust presentations! Before consigning to an auction I wanted to offer this wonderful item to the collectSPACE community. Please e-mail your best offer by this Friday November 8th. My e-mail address is xenophora@verizon.net — Michael Gage

Are these still okay for private acquisition given prior NASA IG interest in the displays?

As mentioned, the Apollo 16 presentations are of Velcro removed from a cue card, which was part of Charlie Duke's collection. The law passed in 2012 establishes that the cue card was Duke's to own and sell, dust stains and all.

(NASA's issue, if it still has one, is with the moon dust that was knowingly removed from the quarantine facility, rather than stained on an astronaut's memento.)

Thanks Robert for the clarification. It's good to know there are no legal issues with owning this authentic moon dust.

Rather than just waiting for a best offer I have decided to sell this wonderful item for $600 plus actual shipping cost.

Please e-mail me at xenophora@verizon.net.
