It is with deep sadness that I must part ways with my Coulter Odyssey 10.1" Dobsonian ('light bucket') f4.5 reflecting telescope. There simply isn't room for it where I am moving. I purchased this for the last apparition of Halley's Comet, so it has been with me for quite a while. The telescope comes with two eyepieces. A König 32mm with rubber eyecup provides spectacular wide-field views of nebulas and star fields. The 12.5mm orthoscopic works well for looking at the Moon and planets. Also included is a homemade finder scope, the optics of which come from a Soviet periscope. Because of its design, the scope is not suitable for astrophotography. It's strictly an observer's telescope. The mirror could use a professional cleaning, but it still works quite well. Due to the size and overall bulk of the scope, I cannot ship it. You'll need to pick it up from my home in Reston, Virginia, or meet me somewhere in the Washington DC area. If interested, please pm me offline using the email address in my profile. Thanks, Jonathan ------------------ Jonathan Ward http://apollolaunchcontrol.com |

That is a very generous offer! If no takers, many libraries and schools are interested in accepting telescopes as donations. As for cleaning the mirror, it is a simple process that does not need to be professionally done and simple instructions can be found all over the internet. Now if the finish needs to be redone, then yes, the resurfacing of a mirror does have to be professionally done. |

Hi Jonathan, I am interested and live in Maryland. The first time I saw the craters of the Moon up close with our school telescope I had tears in my eyes. I would ask that you give me some instructions on aiming and focusing. |

I thank Jonathan for allowing me to provide a new home for his Coulter Odyssey telescope. I hope to share viewing with family and students.I had a really nice chat with Jonathan, too. He is a typical collectSPACE member who shares his enthusiasm and knowledge with others. | |
