The U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame will honor its 2025 class of inductees, record-setting space travelers Peggy Whitson and Bernard Harris, at a public ceremony in Florida this spring. There is a possibility though, that one of the honorees will not be able to be able to attend the festivities.
That is because, at the time, Whitson may be back in space.

It seems Dr. Whitson's launch date is on track for just as Hall of Fame activities begin. That is a first. I wonder how they will factor in that she may/will be in space during the festivities.

Peggy was asked about being in space for her induction during the Axiom 4 crew conference in January, so it has been something that she and the event planners have been aware of for some time.
My understanding is that arrangements were being made for both the possibility she is in space or, if there is a delay to her launch, being able to take part on the ground.

Although she won't yet be in space (the Axiom 4 launch is targeted for no earlier than June 8), Peggy Whitson will not be attending her induction into the Astronaut Hall of Fame. From the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex:
Whitson will not be in attendance as she is preparing to launch into space with Axiom-4 in June, making her the first inductee to go into space at the time of her induction.

I was just at KSC. In talking to a long time employee there, Whitson will be doing a video recording sometime this week, so the recording will be played if she can't make it to the ceremony.

The U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame held its annual induction ceremony on Saturday (May 31), but one of this year's two honorees could not attend for a reason unique to all past enshrinements.
Bernard Harris, the first Black astronaut to perform a spacewalk, took to the stage, received his induction medal and unveiled the plaque that will represent him in the hall of fame at NASA's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida. His fellow 2025 inductee, Peggy Whitson would have done the same, but was absent due to needing to be in quarantine ahead of her upcoming fifth launch into space.

This will make her the second Hall Of Fame member to fly after being inducted. Glenn would be the first flying STS-95 after his induction.

Don't forget Michael Lopez-Alegria, who also flies for Axiom Space, was inducted in 2021 and commanded Ax-1 in 2022 and Ax-3 in 2024).
