Trains, Rockets and WallyThe National Space Society of North Texas (NSS-NT) will be hosted for the "Trains, Rockets, and Wally" event on Sunday, December 12, 2021 beginning at 12 noon CST, at White's Chapel United Methodist Church, 185 S. White Chapel Blvd. in Southlake, Texas.
Legendary space tourist Mary Wallace (Wally) Funk will be honored at her church that day. Each December, this church has a huge model railroad display. Ms. Torie Lazaros from Lockheed Martin, the "Space Dealers" TV series, and more, is providing models of the Blue Origin "New Shepard" rocket, and the associated capsule, for display in the church. Ms. Lazaros will also be in attendance.
Ms. Funk is expected to pose for photos and/or sign autographs. NSS-NT will have three display tables and associated chairs, with complimentary NASA lithographs, Commercial Spaceflight printouts, NSS Ad Astra magazines, and more. I requested that our tables be located parallel to the line for attendees to meet Ms. Funk.
This is the tentative schedule for Sunday, December 12:
- 12:00-1:00 p.m. Holiday buffet (complimentary)
- 1:00-3:30 p.m. Wally Funk event
