Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, Washington, DC
In collaboration with NASA and conducted by Emil de Cou, the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) performs a one-night-only tribute to the July 20, 1969 moon landing in the Concert Hall. Meredith Vieira and Mythbusters's Adam Savage host this special concert featuring performances and appearances by Pharrell Williams, LeVar Burton, Natasha Bedingfield, Todd Douglas Miller, Charles Fishman, and Mark Armstrong, son of the late Neil Armstrong. Don't miss the premiere of a new NSO-commissioned work by Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino and a never-before-seen music video of David Bowie performing "Space Oddity" live at his 50th birthday concert at Madison Square Garden in 1997.
The tribute also features specially curated visuals from NASA that are timed to music, along with special pre-taped performances and greetings from John "Jack" Schlossberg, Brad Paisley, Elton John, Stephen Colbert, astronauts on the International Space Station, and others.
