I am going with two friends to see Michael Foale at Cambridge University on Monday 14th November from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Tickets only £15, should be good. Are any other cS members going?
Mike is the most experienced British born astronaut in the history of human Space travel having flown on 6 Space Shuttle missions, a Soyuz and commanded the International Space Stations. He was the first Briton to perform a Space walk, during which he saved the Hubble Space Telescope. Mike was also responsible for saving the Russian MIR Space Station when it was tumbling out of control. Come and listen to him talk about these experiences and share his stories with you at this unique event.

Yet another wonderful event we have been treated to. A full house and I think I can safely say that everyone there thoroughly enjoyed it.

Michael Foale was brilliant with an engaging personality and articulate going through all of his six space flights, of course spending more time with the details of the Mir collision. That was riveting. A very good Q&A as well.

It must have been very satisfying for him returning to Cambridge where he gained his degrees and Ph.D. His dual nationality gives us in Britain much pride in his achievements. What a stellar career he has had.

The event ran well over time but I don't think anyone was complaining. He had photos taken with all who wanted to in the interval and although not signing autographs did provide a signed photo of himself for all attendees as they were leaving. A nice touch.

Thank you to the organisers and their helpers and I still can't quite believe how lucky we all are at being able to see these top space travellers so regularly coming over here. I once thought that after the Apollo astronauts that it wouldn't be as good but very pleased to admit I was wrong. They are all still of the right stuff that's for sure.

A packed audience for Mike's lecture at the school last night. Presentation based around little seen video footage narrated by Mike. Accomplished space explorer giving a humorous account of life in space including launch to landing.

A question and answer session followed with some great questions from the youngsters in the audience.

Many familiar faces in the audience from this forum, Midlands Spaceflight Group and Pontefract followers.
