ShareSpace Foundation release
Star Trek's George Takei to Host Apollo 11 Anniversary Gala with Buzz Aldrin

Join the ShareSpace Foundation in celebrating the anniversary of the Apollo 11 flight to the moon with the mission's Lunar Module Pilot Astronaut Buzz Aldrin!

This year's gala event will be hosted by the incomparable George Takei, best known for his role as Mr. Sulu in the original Star Trek television and film series, and will feature fellow Star Trek alumna Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) as well as several other guest stars and astronauts. Held on the 47th anniversary of Apollo 11's historic return to Earth and the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, our beloved space-travelers will host this special black-tie event on July 23, 2016, in honor and recognition of one of humankind's greatest achievements: the first time man set foot on the surface of the moon.

The evening will include viewing of NASA restricted property, which includes launch pads and the Vehicle Assembly Building, during the private transportation from a Cocoa Beach, Florida hotel to the gala venue, a reception, a special photo opportunity with the stars, an open bar, dinner underneath one of the only remaining Saturn V rockets in the world (the largest rocket ever made and the likes which took Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Aldrin to the moon in 1969), an eloquent specialty coffee and dessert spread, access to the Saturn V award-winning facility with historic Apollo relics and an engaging program with Aldrin and Takei teleporting guests back to a time when space travel transitioned from fantasy to reality.

Also included in the evening's festivities, and available only to gala attendees, will be an Apollo 11 Memorabilia Silent Auction and a special raffle.

BIG BUCKS to spend big bucks on a silent auction costing big bucks. George has always been a sweet guy to meet.

"Big bucks," maybe, but they go to a good cause..
Event proceeds benefit Buzz Aldrin’s ShareSpace Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to igniting children's passions for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math by providing educators with interactive and engaging hands-on educational activities.

Has anyone made plans to go to this? I am tempted, but with that kind of price, I am not sure. I have never been to an event like this and don't really know what to expect.
