I managed to get a ticket for Chris Hadfield last night in Oxford. What a inspirational speaker and fully appreciated by the sold out audience at the large New Theatre. He went through his glittering career thoroughly and his praise for Tim Peake went down very well.

After the interval he held a Q&A session and followed this with a tribute to David Bowie by playing his guitar and singing 'Space Oddity'. It sounded really good.

What an exceptional man Chris Hadfield is. Seems to be so talented at everything he does. He deserved his ovation at the end and everyone appeared so impressed.

He is at Birmingham tonight then onto Edinburgh two days later, then to Ireland. If you haven't already got a ticket I highly recommend you try like I did to get a late one as it is a tremendous performance and you will witness something very special.

Super jealous, I met him in Ireland two years ago when he gave a talk at trinity college, and then a couple of times when he was doing book signings. Commander Hadfield is a pure gentleman, and a natural public speaker whose enthusiasm for space exploration is unparalleled from my experience. I was gutted when I heard of his return to Ireland and was unable to get a ticket!

Big thanks to Neil who gave me a heads up today when a few extra tickets came up for sale, cheers!

Really pleased for you Gareth. I know, and you know, that you will have a great performance from Chris Hadfield. Enjoy.

That was great, what an amazing guy, eloquent, funny, what a class act! Highly recommended! It was also a pleasure to meet fellow cs member Neil for a pint, hope to see you in Pontefract in April!

Just to echo Gareth's comments, Chris Hadfield was a natural public speaker for an audience whose ages probably ranged from 8 to 80. He explained his experiences with enough detail for the likes of us cS members but not too much as to baffle those with a casual interest in space. Highly recommended if he goes 'on tour' again! Great to chat (and drink!) with Gareth. I may see you in Pontefract...
