As part of World Space Week 2015, former NASA astronaut Greg "Box" Johnson (STS-123, STS-134) will give two free talks at the Ulster Museum, Belfast, on Saturday 3rd October, 2015, at 12.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m.
Greg H 'Box' Johnson was pilot and primary robotic arm operator of the Space Shuttle during two missions to deliver and install important research material to the International Space Station. One of these missions was the final flight of the shuttle 'Endeavour'. He was also CAPCOM (capsule communicator – the communication link between flight control and the astronauts) for several missions including the last Hubble flight.

Greg's current position is President and Executive Director of the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS). Among its many roles is the management of the International Space Station US National Laboratory.

Come along to hear Greg give a fascinating talk about his work, space and science. You may also have the opportunity to get his autograph following the talk!

Belatedly (for which apologies) I can report that this event attracted a large number of visitors. The lecture room, which I guess had at least 250 seats, was packed (literally "standing room only") and we were treated to a very enjoyable talk, film show and Q&A session. Greg Johnson is an excellent public speaker and a great cheerleader for space exploration and commercial space. I had never seen the film compilation, mostly taken on board the ISS during STS-134, and was delighted to see five astronauts doing the "Superman take-off" just by raising their right arms and flexing their ankles. A very vivid demonstration of microgravity in a shirt-sleeves environment.

All times are CT (US)
