Ballunar Liftoff Festival and Johnson Space Center Open HouseThe 18th annual Ballunar Liftoff Festival and Johnson Space Center (JSC) Open House will take place this weekend on the grounds of JSC between Buildings 14 and 44. On Saturday, Oct. 22, JSC will host an Open House in buildings: - 7 - Spacesuits and Thermal Systems Developments Labs;
- 9N - Shuttle, International Space Station (ISS), SEV, MPCV mockups and Orion parachute will be on display;
- 11 - café, gift shop and Space and Life Science exhibits;
- 14 - chambers, labs, habitat mockup;
- 16 - Shuttle Avionics Integrations Lab (SAIL);
- 29 - Advanced Exploration Systems Development Lab;
- 30S - Historic Apollo MCR, ISS Live Exhibit, shuttle knowledge capture;
- 49 - Vibration and Acoustic Test Facility;
- 220 - lunar habitat mockups; and
- Saturn V - Kids Space Place, Commercial Crew and Cargo exhibits, Astromaterials display, ISS exhibits, environmental partnerships exhibits, moon rocks and more.
Other events include Disney on Stage, an exotic bird show, live entertainment by Nashville recording artist Curtis Braly and more. The Experience NASA tent will also be in the Ballunar Festival area. Gates open Friday at 6 p.m and Saturday and Sunday at 7 a.m. The cost is $10 per vehicle. Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, astronauts Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger, Kate Rubins and Scott Tingle will be signing autographs (exact schedule still to be announced). Also, for the first time since arriving from Florida, the Pad 39B orbiter access arm and white room will be on display during the open house. | |
