Buzz Aldrin will be here in Brazil at an event this next Tuesday. It was interesting to note that just a few weeks ago, Neil Armstrong was here as well, and NO one knew, except a few people present at the wedding of his wife's son who married a native Brazilian. In the article, it states how Neil had asked the government, as well as all around him to respect his wishes for secrecy. Here is the link, and a photo of the family taken here in Brazil.

That is one of the COOL stories of the year!

Is this the "boy", who in FIRST MAN, told his mom, "You will never guess who is at the front door" when Neil showed up with his chainsaw to help his future wife with some yard work? (my paraphrased recollection from my first read of First Man some months/years ago.)

I wish I could go, but I just got back from being at the show there in Florida. Of all places here in Brazil, Buzz is going to a very small town, about 9 hours by bus from were I live. In reading a post about the visit, it seems like even the natives from this town are shocked to have a visit from Buzz to such a small town. He will be giving a speech at a Theater, and meeting with local children early in the day. I am checking everywhere to see if he will be in Sao Paulo, or RIO, which are much closer to where I am.

On another note, I was reading that Neil told the people and relatives, that he is looking forward to coming back to Brazil, as it seemed he really had a great time here.

From Buzz himself, via Twitter:
In Miami International Airport waiting to get on a plane to Rio, Brazil. Speaking to the Luis Cruls Astronomical Society tomorrow then on to Sao Paulo. Only two days in Brazil.

All times are CT (US)
