Robert, congratulations on the 10th Anniversary of collectSPACE! It is hard to believe it was 3,653 days ago when a great guy I knew from numerous space related gatherings told me about the birth of his website, collectSPACE.com. At the time we were at the National Air and Space Museum celebrating the 30th anniversary of Apollo 11. I thought seeing the Apollo 11 crew from afar and meeting Farouk El-Baz were going to be the highlights of the day until I returned home and used my 56k dial-up connection to visit your website. My life has been so much the richer for it ever since. Robert, I am ever so grateful for the countless hours of devotion you have invested in collectSPACE.com. Thanks to you my family and I have met dozens of astronauts and other great folks we never would have met were it not for your work. You rock! If only your website would have been around when I was a kid! All my best wishes for many, many more years of collectSPACE. One of your many fans, Paul |

Thanks Paul and Tim!Originally my plan was to have a surprise in store today to celebrate our tenth anniversary (and in a way, I still did), but with Apollo 11's 40th taking on a much larger impact this year than I think anyone really anticipated (in light of LRO's landing site pictures, NASA's newly restored film and Walter Cronkite's passing), I chose to extend our own celebration to the first week of November, which will mark 10 years since our first member joined [and will nicely coincide with the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation's Astronaut Autograph & Memorabilia Show]. So, good things are still to come! Thanks again! |

I can say with all honesty that thru this site my collection and knowledge of all things space has grown 10 fold as well. Thank you is a small phrase for such a large debt of gratitude. |

Let me extend my sentiments and add my congratulations on your 10th anniversary Robert and wish you many more. While I have only in this past year become a member to collectspace.com, it has quickly become by fare my favorite website. Your dedication and professionalism has allowed those of us with an interest in spaceflight and collecting to have a central meeting area, and in my opinion is one on the main reasons for the growing interest in space and space collecting. Your fair monitoring of this site and your knowledge and editorial skills and access to even the most remote pieces of information keeps a dedicated fan base eager and willing to share information in a friendly and constructive manor. I can honestly say, I have never seen a web site with a more dedicated and co-operative member base and the main reason for that is YOU. So allow me to add my congratulations and best wishes and many thanks as you move into you second decade. All the Best Alan

Congratulations on the 10th Anniversary of collectSPACE.I can only describe my trips here as pure addiction. When one feels compelled to to visit, not only daily, but several times a day, how else can it be described?! Robert, thank you so much for all you do for us. Sometimes I wonder if you ever sleep when you often respond instantly to postings made during daylight hours from the eastern side of the Pond (and nightime equivalent on your side.) Here's to many anniversaries to be celebrated in the future. Andy |

I'd agree with everything that has been said so far. As a relative newcomer to the world (no pun intended) of space history and collecting, this site has proved to be so useful in furthering my own knowledge. Most of my friends have little to no interest in space so it's brilliant to have somewhere to hear about other peoples insights and opinions into this great hobby. I'm probably not as eloquent as those at the John Glenn Lecture last night, but I hope I've made my point! |

A life without collectSPACE, hmmm...I wonder what I'd have done instead on the days when I met Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin in Reno; or Jack Schmitt in Delft; or Dave Scott in London. What would I put in my spare room instead of spacesuits? What would my wife have spent all the money on? Thanks Robert, it's a life changing site Cheers, Matt ------------------ www.spaceracemuseum.com |

Congratulations, Robert. I am very grateful for having found this site a year ago. I've learned a lot and had the opportunity to meet some of my heroes. In the Free Space section there's a thread on how people react to when they find out you collect space. I am glad to have Robert as "one of us," and who represents us well. |

Congrats, Robert!I have only been a member of this site for a few months, and yet already it has greatly improved my collection and more importantly, my interest in all things space. Thanks to this site, I became aware of Autographica this September and so thank you Robert for giving me the chance to meet some of my heroes! I hope to be a member of this wonderful site for many more years to come! Shane.. |

Robert, I would like to echo the sentiment and say thank you for collectSPACE. Before I came to the site I would never have believed that my questions would have astronauts writing to me in respnose to my letters, I would be able to email the authors of spaceflight books I have read or have my questions answered by people I have seen being interviewed and been able to share my passion with people who feel the same way, but it has all happened. You always put so much effort into collectSPACE which means a lot to us all. Thank you againGareth |

I recommended cS to some people in line at the book signing Sunday. I thought every already knew about the site but I guess not. It sure has helped keep us informed, and I rely on it to find out when astronauts I would like to meet will be appearing. So cS came online about the same time as the STS-93 launch, which I was at KSC to view. Quite an exciting time. |

Great site, thanks Robert. I am lost if I don't check this site about 6 times a day. Per the previous post I ask people in line at book signings etc too and I am surprised at how many don't know about collectSPACE. Though some are lurkers and one fellow in Palm Springs years ago noted he only looked at it for the sightings section. ------------------ Kind Regards Douglas Henry Enjoy yourself and have fun.... it is only a hobby! http://home.earthlink.net/~aztecdoug/ |

Yes indeed, Robert, thank you most sincerely for a wonderful addition to the Internet.I am a latecomer to the site, but was in the right place at the right time, I'm employment, to have a computer tech support job when the Internet was still mostly text and the WWW was just getting going... I always thought, sheesh, with all this text, I don't need all that color and all those pictures! But you have provided us with an absolutely incredible resource, and usually only check in once a day, but stay several, many minutes catching up. Thank you for all you do for us. Gene Bella |

Robert:This is an excelent site not just for the quality of its content and administration, but for its technical functionality as a web site. (It works so perfectly.) As a new member who joined originally to try to find a buyer for my space junk, I have been drawn into the sphere of space hardware and have spent many hours on this site. Keep up the good work. |

Robert, gotta add my thanks too! My collection has grown through members here, as well as a few new friendships that I know will be lasting. It was great to finally meet you in person at the Autograph show at KSC a couple years ago and hope to meet you again maybe at the next one in November. I hope NASA will skew some shuttle schedules so it will line up with a launch like the STS-117 that we saw. Wow... that was the FINEST weekend I ever had! Tom

Over many years Robert and collectSPACE have been an almost indispensible part of my life. Any time I sit down at my computer I always click on to see what's been happening since the last time. But collectSPACE has meant much more to me than just a cozy place to pick up and impart information and stories; the Outward Odyssey series might never have come to fruition without the assistance it gave me in finding mostly first-time authors with the necessary background and experience in writing, combined with a passion for spaceflight history. It is my sincere hope that all of these writers will seize this advantage and go on to write books of their own. So I believe that collectSPACE has potentially become the breeding ground for the next generation of spaceflight writers. For that, and for the other thousand and one things, thank you, Robert. I certainly second everyone's congrats to Robert for starting this site. It's comforting to come to a place where you won't be judged for being a space geek! More than a marketplace, this is a great place to get information. No matter what arcane aspect of the space program you're interested in, chances are there's someone else on the site who's an expert...and there are plenty of opportunities for us all to share what we know with others who are curious. We're so fortunate that Robert had the vision to provide us a safe and fun place to play with each other! I don't know how Robert finds the time to administer this site while jetting all over the country for his "real" job. (How many of us wish we had HIS job????) He runs the forum with a light touch rather than a heavy hand, which I really appreciate. Robert, I'm very happy that I got to meet you at Spacefest this year and it was a joy to see you again at the NASM this week. Congratulations!! Many thanks to you Robert! Because of cS and your sincere dedication I've been able to meet many of my space heroes, sometimes with only a few day's notice. cS has also afforded me the pleasure of meeting many fellow space enthusiasts at KSC and various astronaut autograph shows. Per your above July 20 post I am very much looking forward to the next ASF show at KSC in November. "The cS 10th Anniversary Splash Down" has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?! Wishing you many more decades of cS! Thank you! Rob |

Thank you everyone! The past ten years have been tremendously rewarding, especially for the friendships I have been able to develop with many of you! I've met no finer group of individuals that cS'ers (a term I didn't even coin!) and I'm honored to have each of you as part of this community. I have said it before but it bears repeating: the past decade would never have been possible without the support of our readership. Long before Web 2.0 was a buzzword and reader-generated content was a trend, you demonstrated what is possible from an international audience sharing a common interest. |
