Spring Mill State Park in Indiana will be rededicating the renovated Grissom Memorial on July 18. In the afternoon in Mitchell, Indiana at Gus' boyhood home, a plaque will be placed at the tree beside the home that has grown from a seedling given to Mr. & Mrs. Grissom by Bedford Astronaut Charles Walker. The seedling orbited the Earth 96 times aboard Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-41D) in September, 1984. |

I think I can safely speak for everyone on this site when I say welcome to collectSPACE.I visited your brother's memorial at Spring Mill State Park, a few years ago. To me Gus never recived the credit he desereved. Although Spring Mill State Park is not very big, you can easly tell the state of Indiana is proud of Gus and what he accomplished. During a time when the USSR was beating us at every turn, Gus scored one on them. Gus Grissom was the first man to fly into space twice. |

Here is a shot of the new display of Gemini III we took a week after the museum reopened. It has been done really well and worth a trip to see all of the new displays. |

I have been to the Grissom museum at Spring Mill in the past. It is a wonderful visit -- all those memories and space treasures from Gus, nestled in a beautiful and restful state park. It is one of the more unique places to go and relax and touch space history. With the renovation, I can not recommend it enough. I certainly plan to go and see the renovated museum. What a wonderful tribute to Gus and his achievements. Rich |
