When Hurricane Katrina came through Gulfport, Mississippi in 2005, it destroyed most of the space memorabilia collection that belonged to the late Apollo 14 Command Module Pilot Stu Roosa and his wife Joan.

Since then, the Roosas' daughter-in-law, Whitney has been trying to rebuild her family's Apollo 14 treasure chest.

If you have items relating to Roosa's moon mission and are willing to part with them, you can help Whitney with her quest. Items can be sent directly to her at:

Whitney Roosa
201 Tavestock Lane
Winter Spring, Florida 32708

In this season of charity and giving, I would greatly encourage as many collectors and enthusiasts who can help to do so. I am sure the Roosa family will appreciate anything you can send.

For those of us who do not have any items related to Stu Roosa, would it be possible to make a monetary donation in order for her to perhaps make purchases of items related to her father and his mission?

I do have a autographed photograph of Ed Mitchell on the Moon that I would be willing to send to her. Since he was a member of her father's crew, do you think she would be interested in that item?

I think the family is looking to find/replace period items, such as mission memorabilia (decals, patches, etc.) as well as NASA lithos/glossies, films and such from Apollo 14.

I will inquire regarding monetary donations. Thanks.

At this time, it is best we keep donations to items rather than money. One idea, if you'd like to help, might be if you see an Apollo 14 item offered on eBay or elsewhere that you can afford, you might purchase it and then send it to the Roosas. Thank you.

Actually, that does sound like a better idea. Less logistics involved for Mrs. Roosa to worry about. Thanks for asking Robert!
