Consider this a "save-the-date" — more details will be released soon.On January 13, 2007, the Chabot Space & Science Center in California will host a benefit for the Association of Space Explorers' efforts to draft a United Nations treaty on Near Earth Object (NEO) deflection. The funds raised by this event will help underwrite four international workshops to grapple with the complex issues and draft a treaty reflecting the best policies to protect life and property on the planet.
The event, which will begin in the afternoon and extend through the evening will include an astronaut autograph session (names to be released soon), a reception and program where Carolyn Shoemaker will be honored.
This will be a limited attendance event and advanced ticket purchase will be required. As soon as specific details are announced, they will be posted to collectSPACE.
