Not too long ago, a couple of people were asking about Australian cartoonist Paul Rigby, whose wonderful cartoons in our Australian daily newspapers included many on the space race to the moon. Several of his cartoons appear in Hamish Lindsay's book, "Tracking Apollo to the Moon." Sad to say, Paul died yesterday at Margaret River in Western Australia. |

Colin,Thanks for letting us know. Kind of news that will ruin my day. I love cartoonists and I hope his cartoons will be reedited/published or made available in one form or another because they are hilarious. RIP. Chris. [Edited by cspg (November 17, 2006).] |

Rigby was one of a kind. Here's a cornucopia of some great work. Check out the second cartoon. It was published 37 years ago today during Apollo 12's journey to the Moon. The fifth cartoon was published the day Conrad and Bean left the Moon. [Edited by collectSPACE Admin (November 17, 2006).] |

If you look at his work from April 1970, he did a great cartoon depictng the Apollo 13 spacecraft being escorted back to Earth by the spirits of famous aircraft and pilots from the past.Steve |
