Hello all
Thought I'd take a minute to let other collectspace folks know about an awesome day yesterday at the Space Venture Forum, part of ISDC which is going on in LA right now. The highlight of the day was the awards dinner when in the room were....
Dennis Tito, Greg Olsen, Buzz Aldrin, Rusty Schweickart, Brian Binnie, James Kelly (STS), Rick Searfoss, Burt Rutan, most of the Virgin Galactic management team along with about 30 of their founding members (folks who have ponied up $200k each). Also Peter Diamandis, Elon Musk, Eric Anderson, Rod Roddenberry...well the list goes on and on and on.
Buzz is due to talk at lunch today but its already sold out, Rusty is on tomorrow.

One of the best moments of yesterday was during the space venture forum when Virgin G were talking about progress. One of their founders is Trevor Beaty, who is a PR guru who has done a lot to keep Tony Blair in power! He's an interesting character, and he talking about how Buzz had been a huge inspiration to him as a child and how he still wanted to go to space. He made some good points - why do people call baseball stars 'heroes' or footballers 'genius'?? He said that Buzz was a real hero, Burt Rutan a real genius. And the short films he showed were really very interesting indeed, incluing one of him taking a Buzz Lightyear doll on a Russian MIG just so that Buzz could fly (if you've not seen Toy Story then that won't mean anything to you). Fun,
I don't know if any other cSers are here, but if so, I hope you're having a great time too!
Alex
