On 12 April 2005 various events are taking place around the world to celebrate the first manned spaceflight. One of them is in Birmingham, England, near where I live.
"In Gagarin's Trail
A presentation on the anniversary of the first manned spaceflight
By David J Shayler FBIS
Tuesday 12 April 2005
At Birmingham and Midland Institute, (BMI) Margaret Street, Birmingham, West Midlands.
Entry £4.00 adults, doors open 7:30pm, lecture starts 7:45pm"
The BMI is located in Birmingham City Centre just off Colmore Row (that's a road to those who don't know Birmingham) and is just a 5 to 10 minutes walk from the three city centre train stations.
I can thoroughly recommend going to this as Dave is an excellent speaker as well as the author and co-author of many books on spaceflight e.g. The Rocket Men, Soyuz, Skylab, Challenger and Apollo 11 Moon Landing. He also worked with Michael Cassutt on all three editions of the Who's Who In Space and has many more books in various stages of preparation.
According to the main Yuri's Night website
http://www.yurisnight.net/
there is only one event in the UK and this is it.
Best wishes
