WOW !

Greetings from a cloudless Delft ! I am watching the lunar eclipse from a balcony near my house. The Earth's shadow has reached the Moon's surface 20 minutes ago, the eclipse will be complete in an hour or so. It's 1 o'clock in the morning now for me, I am just enjoying some strong coffee out of a Star City mug ...

It really is great! We've got the telescope set up -- it's amazing to see the craters & other surface features in the shadow.

Hope everyone gets a chance to see it!

I`m watching it now- UK time 12.30a.m and can see the different stages of the eclipse which cause the moon craters etc to change- great stuff and I`ve been up since 4.00a.m but worth the wait up.

It's beautiful from here in Syracuse, New York, too, and I can't believe the weather is cooperating! I've told a few people who are online tonight to go out and look! I'm not seeing much coloration yet, though. How about all of you? We'll see what happens later! Carrie

No - not really an orange-y look, but nevertheless it's still amazing ! Despite the Earth's shadow is covering it completely now, it's still visible.

Gotta get outside again, the shadow will be starting to disappear in 10 minutes !

Beautiful Dan!!!

I took photos from outside my dorm here in Daytona Beach, as the moon went in and out of passing low clouds on this humid night. There were plenty of clear spaces; if any turn out I will certainly share them.

YES - a decent hour - for you in the States ...

For us in Europe it was something like half past two in the morning ! <YAWN> But it was definitely worth it. Kudos to nature for having it take place in the weekend ...

Same here in this part of the midlands with cloud cover.
The only thing that kept me awake was the Muppet down the road who decided to let off some fireworks around 1am.
It was like the Somme !!.
I'm hoping to get some decent shut eye tonight.
All the best a very tired

Wow, Dan, your pictures really show the redness! A friend of mine in San Diego said the Moon looked very red there, unlike here, and speculated maybe the ash from the recent fires may have affected the color? Anyone else in that area notice the same? Carrie

Guys,

Its a known fact that air quality affects the colours you see during eclipse.

Could have sworn it looked like cotton wool from my back garden again...

Ya know, it got more orange-y towards the end of the eclispe.
I wish I had a telescope or were at some place where there was one.

Hi all.
Thanks to Mr. Art Klinger and his friends/staff/students at the Penn-Harris-Madison (PHM) Planetarium in Mishawaka, Indiana we hade a SUPER night for an eclipse !

There were THREE telescopes of various sizes....two experts keeping the Moon in view for us....Mr. Klinger gave a great pre-briefing at least twice on what was happening....WOW !

The weather NEVER (alright, rarely) cooperates here in Northern Indiana, but tonight it could not have been much better (maybe a little warmer). We never really saw the red glow happen....but I fell asleep alot ! (more redness from my face there !).
We had great view the whole time....I thanked the Moon for the show a night or two later when it was spectacularly clear....the telescopes set up only enhanced the evening...those of us without them only appreciate them even moe when we get to look through them.....the crowd was smaller than it could have been/should have been....

Mr. Klinger, by the way, is offering MANY shows throughout the school year this year....often on Sunday afternoons.....if you llive in the area get a schedule and stop in...there are plenty of seats and you will never get enough of all the artifacts and stuff lining the walls of this unique facility.

Thanks to all who make MY space hobby come along at PHM !
