As some of you who belong to other lists may be aware, I announced earlier today on the "Astronauts List" a private signing Ive set up with Al Worden.Basically all items need to be HERE by March 15th. I apologize for the short notice but we just finished hammering out the details just this afternoon and he's off to Michigan (we're both in Florida now) April 1st. The address will follow. Price structure will be as follows: Base Price (flats up to and including 11x14) $50 Covers: $90 Beta Patch $90 A-15 Completion item (non covers or beta): $150 A-15 cover/beta patch completion: $175 Multi Signed items (other than above 2+ signature already) $90 Mission Incription + CMP (or Date) +$10 Personalization: +$10 Inscriptions: $10 word max 10 words Metallic Pen: + $10 Bulky/Large/3D item: $75 We will have some of the most common photos for sale at $10 each (photos - not laser prints) - to be announced. You also need to provide a return mechanism. ie a SASE or FedEx return etc. I have no problem carting your item to the PO or UPS for return along with attendant forms such as insurance. And I HIGHLY recommend you insure your items both ways. Yes we will do international orders and try to help with return postage BUT PLEASE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FIRST. Also there is a $5 handling fee per ORDER - NOT per item. Sorry - no credit cards. At this time there is no limit on items sent. Sorry - no discounts for dealers or bulk orders. Now the address: Al Hallonquist PO Box 1300 Hobe Sound, FLorida UA 33475-1300 If you hve an item you may be concerned if he'd sign - PLEASE contact me before sending. Im sure its OK, but lets make sure. I do not know at this time if theres anything he would not sign, unless its an endorsment type situation. Please contact me DIRECT for any questions @ albatron@aol.com Thanks! Al |

Hi Al, I want to commend you on your efforts in setting up Col. Wordens private signing. And my thanks go to Col. Worden for agreeing to it. I know we have butted heads in the past on this very topic, so let me be among the first to applaud your accomplishment. I learned alot from our debates, and in spite of all that has happened to Col. Worden, and other Astronauts, it is wonderful that he is willing sign again. Even, a limited, private signing is much appriciated. Well done!Ed ------------------ " I collect space, in order to fill the space between my ears." ME [This message has been edited by Ed beck (edited January 18, 2002).] |

A laudable initiative and welcome in the autograph business. quote: Originally posted by albatron@aol.com: and he's off to Michigan
Does this mean Worden is moving to Michigan, permanently? ------------------ Jürgen P Esders Brussels, Belgium http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Astroaddies |

No - he just summers there. FYI he has set up a deal with his Postmaster to automatically refuse all fan mail through the mail. He turns 70 in a week or so and its just become too overwhelming which has led to this signing as well as those who take advantage. He does have a genuine concern for the legitimate collector as those who interacted with him at the AHOF can attest to. But the volume and a few people (tons of requests from multiple aliases and addresses for example) have ruined it.Best, Al |

Hiya, I'm sending (via Dennis Talbot !), a SIM Bay EVA photo (from the exterior camera), a photo of Worden inside the CM (training pic I presume), a photo of Worden by the steps to the "train wreck", and a litho of the CSM in lunar orbit (the one just before rendezvous). I know I'm spending more than I would usually but I'm getting stuff signed just as I want it ! Gotta get it while you can ! Happy Collecting.....Adam |

Just a quick up date in regards to the signing. Florian (Spaceflori) offers a nice piece on his site, a picture of the Apollo 15 CM in lunar orbit with an attached flown piece of data tape. There was some question as to whether Al would sign these pieces (appearing to be an endorsement). I spoke to him last night and he agreed to. NOT as an endorsement of course but a nice signature to add to the photo. Of course, theres no problem with the authenticity anyway. I hope to have a site up by the end of the week with the order form, and thumbnails of the pictures we'll be offering. And finally - there has been some concern about items sent to Kim Poor for the Scott signing as to whether or not they will make it to us (multi signed pieces needing Al)in time. Kim and I are working together to ensure that they will - Kim is THE class act out there. If you'd like, you can have Kim send them to me from his signing (he has the info) and I would return them to you. Just make sure you arrange this with Kim and me as we are not mind readers. <G> Thank you so much for the VERY enthusiastic support! Best, Al |

I guess my post should include "Al, Al and Kim" - Lest we forget Al Worden's part in all this! I think not! I'll never forget meeting him in the lobby of my hotel at the AHoF event last November. What a great guy!Bruce |

I just got my order from Ofoto in the mail yesterday. I chose the photo of the CM with the open bay in orbit around the moon. My only concern is that it was printed so there is a white line on the top and bottom. I guess I didn't adjust the size right. Argh!Maybe I'll just pay the extra $10 and order one of the photos that Al will provide. I don't think there is time to re-order a new photo, I don't want to risk my order getting there late. Tom |
