collectSPACE Greenland and Faroe Islands issue stamp for Danish astronaut's ISS missionA Danish astronaut's upcoming space mission has gotten the stamp of approval from the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Posta Faroe Islands and Tusass Greenland, the two countries' postal services, have collaborated to produce a single postage stamp design commemorating European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Andreas Mogensen's "Huginn" mission to the International Space Station. The stamp was issued in both of the Kingdom of Denmark overseas territories on Friday (Aug. 11). |

Do we know why it is called the Huginn mission? Huginn and Muninn are two ravens in Norse Mythology who bring word of Midgard events to Odin.Apart from the Danish/Norse connection I can't fathom any other link. The stamps however, quite clearly reference the mythological aspect, so who, in this respect, is Muninn? |

Swedish astronaut Marcus Wandt's ESA mission is named Muninn. Though not yet officially announced, Wandt is expected to fly on Axiom 3, which will overlap Andreas Mogensen's Huginn mission on the International Space Station. |
