Terrific Covers. I am hoping Jim will enter some of these in the American First Day Cover Cachetmakers Competition next year. |

Just thought I'd pass this info on to the rest of the group. I attended the 27th annual Space Symposium this week and met up with an artist that specializes in space covers. His name is Jim Roth and he showed me some of his work. Great stuff. I just visited his site and he has a ton of nice covers there. Editor's note: Threads merged. |

Long time forgotten thread... I was thinking to get a couple of Fiftyseven mission cachets and would be happy to have some info about the cachet-maker (as usual). Unfortunately the site is not alive and I wonder how long and how many of these covers have been printed? |

Hundreds of different issues of Jim's cachet-designed space covers were produced and maybe he would see this post and respond. He would design both sides of a space cover with some of the best colorful and graphically produced artwork creations that I have ever seen. Some of my favorite Jim Roth cover designs were for each of the last shuttle orbiter flights. Jim created an incredible "fold out" or "pop up" artwork cover printed on a card-stock type standard envelope size. When the "cover" is opened, all of the designated orbiter flight crew logos (in full color) were included along with a detailed history and colorful photo montage of the space plane. As far as I know, they were the first ever space cover "pop up" issues that I have seen and am proud to have many of them in my own shuttle cover collections. Well done Jim! |
