On 2 October Australia Post will introduce a series of products to celebrate 50 Years of Space Exploration.

They include the following:

  • 5 x 50c (se-tenant) plus a $1 gummed stamps which show Sputnik, the first spacewalk, the first moonwalk, Voyager and the ISS on the 50c stamps and the Hubble Space Telescope on the $1 stamp.

  • A minisheet which includes the six stamps but with a difference. The $1 stamp will be a different size to the normal $1 stamp.

  • 5 x 50c peel & stick stamps
  • a booklet of 10 x 50c stamps
  • a prestige booklet
  • a set of 6 maxicards
  • a stamp & medallion cover
The gutter strip of 2 x 5 stamps will have a space related decoration.

In addition a pictorial FDI postmark from Woomera will be used on official FDCs.

If you go to the Australian Post Stamp Shop, links on that page should give you all the information you need. I'm unable to verify online ordering as it is unavailable for Australian residents! But it is supposed to be available to overseas buyers. Unbelievable!!

To order by mail go to the Australia Post's website where you can download the Stamp Bulletin which includes a list of all available products and a mail order form. Unfortunately they appear to be a little slow in putting up the bulletin you require which is No. 289 October-December 2007, so you'll need to wait or just use the mail address given on the previously mentioned Web page.

The FDCs are on sale until the 30 October 2007 while the rest of the products are on sale until 30 April 2008.

Hope this helps
Ross.

Tried the web site earlier, unless I am completely out of the loop, you can not find the Sputnik stamps.

Do you know which bulletin outlines the Sputnik stamps, the web site is an ergonomic nightmare.

If you read above, you'll note that the stamps are not available until October 2.

The Blast off products are now listed on the stamps section of the Web site. Unfortunately the latest bulletin (289) still hasn't been placed on the site. Still, there should be enough info to order the products without the bulletin.

Ross.
PS Just put in my order for most of the products - adds up to quite a tidy sum
