2. Cover autographed by the second group of astronauts, chosen in l962 (rarer than the Original Seven). When did you last see one of these?

1. An X-15 flown cover. There were a few covers flown on 5 - 10 of the flights. Any of them would do for me...

2. A Mike Adams auto'd X-15 cover. Adams only flew 7 missions and died on the 7th as he was completing his only astronaut wings flight. A terribly rare signature to find, and especially on a cover.

3. A June 8, 1959 X-15 first free-flight cover. I have never seen one or talked with any collector who has. Crossfield told me that he thinks he carried maybe a half dozen covers on this flight, but can't remember who they went back to. If these still exist, they may be the only (flown or unflown) covers canceled for this flight.

1. Even though it would be maybe 1/5 as valuable, I think I'd rather have an Apollo 15 flown cover than an Apollo 11 one. It's pretty well accepted (Buzz is silent on the subject) that the Apollo 11 flown covers ("Carried to the moon on Apollo 11") were stored in the CM and weren't carried to Tranquility Base. The Apollo 15 covers (wonderfully done) were without question carried to the moon's surface.

2. A cover signed by all 12 moonwalkers (a photo would also do).

3. A cover signed by all 12 X-15 pilots. It's possible that such an item would exist, but very unlikely that there are any signed by all 12.

1. Official Apollo 11 cover postmarked during flight.
   
2. Official Apollo 15 cover postmarked on the moon.
   
3. Kamanin's letter, which was delivered to Vladimir Shatalov onboard Soyuz 4 by Soyuz 5 cosmonauts Yevgeni Khrunov and Aleksei Yelisejev in January 1969. It is the earliest cover known to be flown on a manned space mission. Only two letters and a few photographs were delivered. This very letter was sold for some 110,000.00 US $ on the first Sothebee's auction on Soviet space memorabilia.
   
4. Flown Apollo 16 cover. Charly Duke took 25 covers with LM Orion to moon surface. They were exposed to the vacuum of space during 3 EVAs done by John Young and Charlie Duke. The two astronauts drove with LRV-2. All Apollo 16 covers are properly registered in Charlie's PPK list. To the best of my knowledge, only on Apollo 16 covers were flown to moon, which were cancelled right on launch-day at KSC.
   
5. Cover flown to moon onboard Apollo 11 in CSM Columbia.

I have a long wish-list, but only one cover that I can give a status of "desire" — ASTP flown cover. As far, as I know, 25 were taken abroad Soyuz by Valery Kubasov. I heard about one that was sold on auction.

From the wish-list, the first several positions are:

1. ATV flown cover with ISS marks and crew signatures.
   
2. ASTP recovery cover from USS New Orleans with the date earlier then July 25, 1975.
   
3. ASTP recovery cover with signature of Rear Admiral Ralph Wentworth
   
4. Krylov tracking ship cover postmarked in Seattle during visit in 1992 – Resurs 500 project
   
5. Operation Moonlight, Yellowknife cover – Cosmos satellite remnants search in 1978

An ASTP cover dated 7/24/75 aboard the PRS USS New Orleans is basically nonexistent, as the ship's post office was closed to both the crew and public (reporters, dignitaries etc.). But the mission did produce a wide variety of covers, due to it being the last manned flight to end at sea before shuttle.
