New collectible pins celebrate humanity's robotic space explorers

A design studio's proposal for a new collectible set seeks to "pin" down the pivotal probes from space exploration history.

Chop Shop on Tuesday (April 8) began seeking fans of robotic satellites and interplanetary spacecraft to help them create a series of hard enamel lapel pins. In addition to seeking pledges through a crowdfunding campaign, the Philadelphia-based store is turning to the public to pick out the probe for the fifth pin the line.

Funded! Enameled Spacecraft Pins Are a Go

Our enamel pin campaign celebrating five legendary robotic spacecraft has been live for just over a week — and we're thrilled it is already funded!

That means it's happening: the pins will be produced, and backers will receive their rewards as we hoped.

Only Voyager has been made into a physical pin before, which is why it is photographic above, and New Horizons was voted by backers as Pin #5, with 21% of the vote!

If you've ever backed any of our past Kickstarters, you'll get the new Huygens pin free (see it in the pin art grid). New to crowd-funding? You can still add it on. Plus, all 12 mission designs from the Spacecraft Series — including Voyager and Cassini in holo styled stickers — are now available as 3.5" round sticker add-ons.

Thanks for helping bring these missions down to pin size — and for helping us keep the spirit of exploration alive!

Galileo & Rosetta Added to Full Spacecraft Pin Set

Our enamel pin campaign has officially ended—but in the final 48 hours, we reached a key stretch goal and unlocked Galileo as the 6th pin in the series (shown rendered below). If you missed the campaign, we've set up a special extension page where you can still grab the full set at the same discounted rate.

Thanks to continued support through that same extension page, we've now unlocked a 7th pin: Rosetta/Philae! This happened just after the campaign closed, so the final artwork is still in development (see preview below left). If you'd like to add it to your set, it's available as an $8.50 add-on during checkout.

We also created a limited-edition Huygens on Titan pin (above right), offered free to anyone who backed any of our previous crowdfunding campaigns. If that's you and you missed this last round, let us know — we'll help you make a late pledge so you can still claim yours.

We hope to see more of you join us on the extended campaign page — those final hours made all the difference. Every goal was met, and we couldn't have done it without your support. Thank you!
