Just Landed: Official Griffin-1 Mission PatchThe main feature of the patch is a griffin, a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. This majestic beast is described in folklore as a protector of legendary treasures, in this case the mission's payloads.

The teardrop shape represents Griffin's journey from Earth to the Moon. The majestic Griffin is seated to represent our team "sticking" the landing. Honoring Peregrine's mission heritage in the patch design, the griffin's head is turned to the left to meet the peregrine's gaze when the patches are displayed together.
There are three stars at the top center of the patch's design, representing three space agencies that are joining Astrobotic on its mission.

The Moon graphic at the bottom of the patch represents the landing site at the lunar south pole.
A Note From the Artist
Astrobot designer Jordan Reynolds has this to say about his vision for Griffin-1's official mission patch: "It was an honor to design the mission patch that hundreds of dedicated individuals will rally behind for our mission to land on the Moon. Each element carefully woven into the design pays homage to our space program's history while capturing the spirit and determination of our current mission. As both a memento and an emblem, the patch serves as a reminder of the countless hours of commitment, innovation, and collaboration that make this mission possible."
