Does anyone know if the patch that is on the NASA Space Shuttle employee merit pics, which are signed by all crew members, is an embroidered type patch? Or is it a special patch that NASA uses for space flight only? |

Yes, the mounted mission patches are embroidered, identical to those sold as souvenirs (and made by the same company, A-B Emblem). There were silkscreened patches and special embroidered patches created for EVA use, but those were not produced in bulk. |

Thank you Robert, I sold an STS crew montage picture and the glass broke in shipping. It was returned and the patch looked to be thinner than a normal patch. Could it have been one of the silkscreen patches?

Silkscreened patches were on Beta cloth squares. They are paper thin and hard to mistake with embroidered patches.Early space shuttle program embroidered patches were thinner than they are today. What mission was it? |
