I don't know if this is new, but I just came across it on Boeing's website (as well in pin and mug form) and thought it might be of interest to others.
The Boeing Heritage Collection celebrates the company's rich legacy in aerospace with designs that display heritage company logos and historic aircraft. Display your pride on luggage, a jacket, or backpack with this embroidered felt sew-on patch. Measures 4"W x 2.6"H.

I picked up a vintage-looking peel-off sticker of this design (below) a few years back. The lady said that it came from McDonnell Aircraft in the early sixties, but I have never seen anything else to positively date this design. It does have the ring of cold war counter-propaganda from that era.

I’d be interested to see if anyone else has items or origin info on this design.

This patch is not new. It has been on Boeing's website for years.

Thanks. I couldn't find any reference to when it was added to the store.

I have seen them for sale at the Museum of Flight's gift shop, too. They sell a lot of the same stuff the Boeing store does. If you ever get to that museum on a weekday, don't forget the Boeing main store just north of the museum on the same side of the road...

Here is a color version. This is from "All We Did Was Fly to the Moon" by Dick Lattimer.

It looks like the earth with the Mercury capsule completing orbits has been around since 1964. Did McDonnell change its logo to this "Free Man in Space" logo after and commemorating John Glenn's three orbit flight?

Also, the "Free Man in Space" heritage patch has been available from Boeing since at least 2012 on their online shop. Although, it was more prevalent commemorating Alan Shepard's flight.

All times are CT (US)
