When did the mission emblems for the Apollo flights first make an appearance? Was it at the rollout, or at a press conference?Apollo 15 and Apollo 16 rollout photos show the mission emblems on display. |

Most, if not all, were released well in advance as indicated by the photo release dates: Apollo 14: September 1970 Apollo 15: May 1971 Apollo 16: November 1971 Apollo 17: September 8, 1972 |

The KSC photo release date for the Apollo 11 emblem is July 8, 1969. The emblem can be seen at the July 5 press conference in Houston. One photo shows Aldrin holding the mission emblem and Armstrong holding a replica of the LM plaque.Was the Apollo 11 emblem seen at the May 14 press conference? |

The Apollo 11 Press Kit has a photo of the mission insignia on page 16 with this note: This photograph not for release before Saturday, July 5, 1969. | |
