I am hopefully spending a day with a group of school children talking on space and taking in memorabilia.Do any members know if the Russian Space Agency will be running another patch design competition for school children? Is there anything similar? I think they would love to enter a design given the chance. Thanks for any responses. |

The children's competition held by Roscosmos, has ended. Soyuz TMA-03M will be the final flight that will be based on it. See (you might want to use Google translator) this Roscosmos press release. The reason given for the end of the competition, is that it had been organized in the light of the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight. For me (and I am sure I am also speaking for Luc, Jacques, Japio and some others) it has been a very rewarding project to work on. We would like to thank everyone who has been investing in these patches and by doing so, helped make the project possible. For those of you collecting Soyuz patches, do not worry. An official meeting about the future of the Russian crew logos was held a little over a week ago at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre in Moscow and the way it looks right now, we will keep doing what we have been doing for the past three years. We will continue to provide support to the Soyuz crews designing and finalizing their patches, as well as being responsible for delivering the flight products (patches, stickers, pins). These original items will also remain available to collectors, who will keep playing a very important role in making this possible in the first place. Thank you! | |
