Three examples of the Orion PA-1 flight test patches were listed on eBay last week.

The seller said in the description that these patches were only given out to media personnel who attended the final launch of the STS-135 Atlantis.

Editor's note: Emblem art added; source: scanned lapel pin

I have one of these patches that was given to me this last week by a NASA VIP who attended the STS-135 launch. It might not have been just the media.

Both the AFT and PA-1 emblems date back to last year's test flight of the Orion CEV (now MPCV) launch abort system.

The PA-1 patches were given out to the media during a post-STS-135 landing tour of Kennedy Space Center's Operations and Checkout (O&C) Building, where the PA-1 module now resides. They were not new or exclusive to that event, however.

Has anyone seen any of these two patches recently? If so, are there authorized reproduction available? I've only seen pins of these two designs.

All times are CT (US)
