Expedition 28/29 Mike Fossum's personal patch Credit: Mike Fossum Just for fun, I did a personal patch for my upcoming mission which captures the spirit of young boy sitting on a hillside looking up at the night sky while dreaming about someday exploring space. There's a little bit of reality and a hefty dose of science fiction in the images. I am indeed "Living the Dream!" I owe huge thanks to Florida space coast artist, Tim Gagnon, for his creation which captures my imagination perfectly. Thanks also to artist Dr. Jorge Cartes and my artist/daughter-in-law, Emily Fossum for their assistance and collaboration. — Mike Fossum, posting on Facebook Credit: Mike Fossum The rocket was used (with permission) from the Soyuz TMA-02M artwork. |

I really like this patch and the message it conveys... and having interviewed Fossum for his upcoming flight, I think it perfectly captures his enthusiasm for being an astronaut. Congratulations to all involved. And to answer an anticipated question, it is my understanding that only a small run of patches were made for Fossum's personal use and there are currently no plans to offer them for sale. |
