I can't seem to find that much detail on Astronaut Wing pins online. Can anyone tell me which company made the wings presented to the astronauts back in the pre-Shuttle days? Are any of the early astronaut wings in private hands? UPDATE: I see Charlie Duke's USAF Astronaut Wings were sold via Peachstate at some stage. Unfortunately no maker's name or pic of the back... |

Try Vanguard. A quick search found both USN and USAF astronaut wings. The SWO pin I wore for 20 years was made by Vanguard, great quality! |

Vanguard certainly make some, but then so do several other manufacturers. I was just wondering if anyone knows who made the versions actually given to the astronuats back in the 60s and 70s. |

The official USAF wingmakers during late 50's early 60's was "N.S. MEYER, INC" out of New York. Here shown the first four Air Force pilots who received the "new" astronaut wings; as reported by the USAF almost 50 years ago. |
