In July 1991, I visited the Edwards Air Force Base gift shop and purchased the STS-40 patch. This one in particular measures approximately 5 inches across.

This last February, I was in Huntsville and saw the STS-40 patch and noticed that it was much bigger. When I got home, my suspicion was correct. This patch measured 6+ inches across.

So, my questions are:

Which one could be considered the "most" official? (I would like to believe the one I purchased on Edwards in 1991).

Which one is likely the one the astronauts wore?
