Over the course of the last couple of decades, I have had the chance to spend a few afternoons hanging out at Global Effects with Chris Gilman (who is a member here), doing exactly as Adam Savage does here — touring their amazing collection of costume spacesuits...
Adam spends the day visiting Global Effects, the legendary specialty costume shop where spacesuits and armor from decades of Hollywood films were created. Founder Chris Gilman tours Adam through the company's historical spacesuit department, the home to over 300 spacesuit replicas that he and his team have fabricated for use in films, TV shows, and other productions. The details of these suits leave Adam speechless!

I really enjoy seeing Adam Savage geek-out. I'd like to think that if it was me getting that tour, I would act more reserved and mature ... but I know better.

Wow - just wow. That tour does look like fun; Adam's emotions I suspect speak for the rest of us.
What I'd give to have a closet full of those suits.

Part two...
Adam is in Hollywood spacesuit heaven! After giving us a tour of the historical spacesuit replicas built by Global Effects, Chris Gilman walks Adam down the sci-fi spacesuit aisle where he's built imagined spacesuits for all kinds of speculative fiction films, from "Ad Astra" to "Firefly"!

Part three...
After touring the incredible replica spacesuit collections at Global Effects, Adam heads to Chris Gilman's workbench in his shop to learn how Chris machines and builds replica Apollo spacesuit hardware that can even work with real NASA parts! From neckrings to connector fittings, Adam gets his hands on both real and replica parts that go above and beyond the demands of specialty costuming.
