Estes launches SpaceX Falcon 9 as new fly and display model rocket

A new model rocket is ready to launch and land — just like the real vehicle on which it is based.

Newly-revealed and released for sale, Estes Industries' SpaceX Falcon 9 with Crew Dragon can lift off high into the sky or touch down on your desktop for display. The latest model in the company's scale series of historic boosters, the Falcon 9 is already one of the most anticipated rockets in Estes' 60-year history.

NICE!! but OUCH!!! $150 + $23 shipping to Florida.

Should have bought the SpaceX one when it was $30... LOL.

The flying models that SpaceX sold for $30 in 2011 and 2014 were of cardboard construction and not designed for display. The desktop model the company sold for $140 in 2018 and 2019 were plastic, but did not have the capability to be launched.

The Estes model is plastic and can either be flown or displayed. It is also more detailed than the earlier SpaceX releases with more molded parts.

I understand the differentiation between the models, yet it's display model pricing in my opinion. I would never risk launching it. All it would take is one lawn dart...

Mine just arrived and am really impressed with it.

Of course I had to take this photo since I have a 1/100 Mercury Redstone — amazing to see 60 years of progress!
