I am in the process of restoring an original Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) Skylab contractor's model in 1/96th scale. It is missing the ATM solar arrays as well as the primary solar arrays.

Does anyone have an example of this same model that I can get the measurements of these components so I can begin attempting to recreate them? Are they painted or paint plus decals on tin or other sheet metal?

Sorry this has taken so long to post. I have one of these, but someone had painted it all white. It has original "wing" solar panels but not the ATM "windmill" panels.

The rectangle that makes up the wing panel is 1.25" x 2.80", I trust that helps some.

Thank you! That helps. Do you have the stand? How does the Skylab attach to the plexiglass tube?

No stand I am afraid. I use an old Revell model S-II to S-IVB transition fairing as the base.

Here are some photos of parts to the 1/48 Skylab that may help.

Thank you for everyone's feedback.

Based on cS member and Facebook space modeler group assistance, I have some preliminary arrays designed and ready for printing to waterslide transfers that I will apply to plastic sheeting. The originals were apparently on brass sheeting, so I may do another revision with that material later.

I have also had the missing CSM 3D printed. The original CSM was very plain in nature, so it was a bit of a challenge finding a suitable 3D model to work with. I managed to find a very simple CSM+LM model and augmented it with the details that I could glean from various photos of the original.

I also had to print the solar array booms and a missing truss from the ATM.

Original CSM:

Refined CSM (using Vectary):

I finally got around to finishing this project. I now have my own 3D printer and have been printing aerospace models for the better part of a year now so I even though I had someone print the parts above I challenged myself to do it myself. I wasn't able to source an acrylic tube to replace the base to match the original from MSFC so I printed base that looks like the interstage. The solar arrays are polystyrene cut using a Cricut machine with inkjet decals applied. The CSM and booms I 3D printed.

Thank you for the help in getting the proper dimensions of the missing bits I had to replicate!
