Have any cS members ever built or know where to get a full size Mercury spacecraft replica? We at the Aviation Hall of Fame of New Jersey would like to set up a Project Mercury exhibit dedicated to New Jersey native Wally Schirra. The replica spacecraft will be the centerpiece of the exhibit. |

Unless you can get a cS member to do it per building instructions, I do know that WonderWorks in Canoga Park, CA does replica spacecraft built to order, with or without the interior, for movies, TV and museums. |

Doesn't the Kansas Cosmosphere make them for people as well? Didn't they make a lot of stuff for Apollo 13 and the HBO Apollo series? |

Yes, the Cosmosphere's SpaceWorks division provides fabrication services for other museums. |

Guard-Lee has built many of the mock-ups at KSC. What ever happened to this full-sized Mercury Capsule project? |

While I have not yet built a Mercury spacecraft reproduction, I have all of the engineering data and equipment needed to build an accurate and realistic display. Please see my website. ------------------ John Fongheiser Historic Space Systems |

I recently acquired fiberglass molds for making a full size Mercury spacecraft model. The molds were taken off a real Mercury spacecraft and originally came from the Charlie Bell auction in Florida many years ago. I always wanted to build a full size Mercury model so now I plan do do so using these molds. Perhaps some type of collaboration can be arranged to keep the costs down. |

Dennis, contact me, I'm over in Ontario. I've worked on many full scale replica spacecraft including the Mercury. I've got a great composites guy who goes quality work for low cost. Reading you website I was one of the first contractors paid for the X-33 building models. My contact was Gene Austin the deputy program manager. |

I have all the specs. And I know where you can get a mold that was made from a real spacecraft. The big question is how much money are you willing to spend? How much time and effort are you willing to put into this project? Email me. |

There is a full size Mercury capsule model/replica on display at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. You might want to contact them and ask where they had it made. |
